The History of the
National Guard Association of Maryland
The National Guard Association of Maryland (NGAM) began its work in 1981 during a time when Maryland was one of only a handful of states without an association. A group of concerned officers, after some study, created NGAM. The organization's mission was to represent the interests of the Maryland National Guard, Army, and Air. Under its independent status as a non-profit organization, NGAM seeks to serve as an advocate for the Maryland National Guard.
