What is ChalleNGe?
The National Guard ChalleNGe program addresses at-risk
youth by employing a structured, quasi-military training and mentoring
program. This program is designed to teach life skills and increase
the educational levels and employment potential of 16-18 year old
high-school drop-outs.
The Freestate ChalleNGe Academy was first known
as the Maryland Military Youth Corps ChalleNGe Program. It is endorsed
by the State of Maryland and is in a cooperative agreement between
The Maryland National Guard and the National Guard Bureau. The academy
is located on the Main Post of Aberdeen Proving Ground in Harford
County Maryland, north of Baltimore City.
